Changes

I've taken a bit of a break from my blogging, I'm not sure why, but I have.  Break is over!  I've made some changes to the appearance of my blog some, and the content will be expanding as well.  My crochet hobby has taken a bit of a life of its own, and I've started taking orders for finished products.  That has resulted in me creating patterns along the way, and now I will start sharing them with all of you!  It’s been frustrating to me going through people's patterns to find that they aren't written well, so I am very much looking for feedback on any patterns I post.  If there are errors I'd like to know as soon as they are discovered so I can correct them.  I hope you all enjoy the posts to come ☺

Healthy Choices

My husband and I have agreed that our eating habits suck, and that has to change for the sake of our son, our budget, and our waistlines. I love to cook, so challenge accepted!!!

First I want to make it very clear that we are not on a diet. I personally don't believe in diets, instead we've decided to make better/healthier eating habits. Dieting isn't practical for your every day life. They can be a weight loss quick fix, but you go off a diet if you don't have healthy eating habits in place then your post diet days likely mean you'll gain all your weight back.

Since I will be doing a majority of the cooking for my family now (we used to eat out a lot) I wanted to start sharing my recipes with you guys.  I commute from one town to another for work.  From the time I leave my house in the morning till I'm back in the evening is almost 12 hours exactly.  I love cooking, but on week nights I want something quick, yummy, and healthy. I also like to pack my own breakfast and lunch, and I don't want to spend a lot of time each evening preparing my meals for the next day, so everything I share will be easy and not take a lot of time. Also I wanted to mention that we are a one income family with a limited grocery budget.  Nothing I make will require weird kitchen tools, or expensive ingredients.  I hope you enjoy the many yummy recipes to come! New Year New Fun

Well I safely made it through the holiday season, and into a new year!  I got a bread machine AND A SEWING MACHINE!!! (thank you amazing husband ☺) for Christmas, and I can't wait to start creating some great things.

I am also excited to start some new crochet projects.  I took a little time off at the end of the year since the last few months of 2012 were occupied by a massive blanket (fits over the top of a queen sized bed) that I made for my mother in law.  First up is going to be a hat for my BFF Elizabeth!

My Christmas

Typically I am a Christmas Grinch. I don't even pretend that I like the massive crowds of rude people that are EVERYWHERE, the earliness the Christmas thing start showing up in the stores (no one needs an inflatable snowman in July), or how the meaning of Christmas is so easily lost in the thoughts of what am I getting among my long list of reasons the Holiday annoys me.

That being said, for some reason year has been different for me. I don't know if the change is cause my son is old enough to understand presents, cause my amazing husband gets so excited about it, or if it's cause this year I decided to hand make most of my presents and Christmas cards. Maybe it's some combination of them all? I've enjoyed shopping for the presents I've purchased. I've enjoyed the lights, and songs. I've very much enjoyed the baking. I've also very much enjoyed presenting my friends with boxes of home made baked goods, homemade sugar scrubs, homemade bath salts, and a few crocheted goodies.

I just know something is different this year. Christmas has been warm and cozy to me this time around. It feels weird to be excited about it, but I like it.

The First!

Well.  This is going to be my first real attempt at blogging.  We'll see how it all goes
